Come North 2020

Two conferences in February 2020 explored the challenges related to achieving population retention and growth. The resulting discussions provided the foundation for a community driven action plan to attack racism, further reconciliation, and attract newcomers to our regions.

Magnetic North 2021

The first Magnetic North conference in June 2021, was done virtually due to the spread of COVID-19 across Canada. While COVID-19 exacerbated struggles in communities across Canada, the need for attracting new community members in Northern Ontario communities, alongside of retaining and welcoming those already in the communities, remains dire.

The Magnetic North 2022 was scheduled to be a two-day conference, on June 22-23, 2022. The in-person proceedings took place in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The goal of the conference was to maintain an agenda that is evenly balanced between the topics of reconciliation, anti-racism, attraction, retention, and settlement.
